Moroccan Spiced Hake with Roast Sweet Potato

You can’t go wrong with a nice bit of baked fish. This went perfectly with the sweet potato. A magical pairing, harissa and sweet potato.


  • Cut a couple of sweet potatoes into chunks
  • Soften some butter
  • Bash and finely chop a garlic clove
  • Chop some coriander
  • Juice a lemon
  • Preheat the oven to 180ºc (fan)
  • Get harissa, hake, oil & seasoning ready


Boil the sweet potato chunks until almost cooked.

Mix the butter, coriander garlic, harissa, lemon juice and seasoning.

Pop the potatoes in a roasting dish, drizzle with oil and salt and cook for about 20-30 minutes.

Arrange the fish on top of the potatoes and spread the harissa mixture over the fish. Bake for around seven minutes until the fish is cooked through.

TWD_0506_Spiced_FishHere’s the original Good Food Mag recipe, I think adding the ginger to the mash might have been one flavour too far and detract from the fish.
